Known as the Windflower, the Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa) is one of the loveliest and most characteristic flowers of the British woodland spring. Its delicate white star-like blossoms, held above finely divided ferny foliage, create the quietly enchanting carpets so familiar beneath deciduous trees and along ancient hedgerows.
Particularly well suited to damp, humus-rich soil in light shade, it thrives beneath deciduous shrubs and trees where it may establish gently over time, spreading to form increasingly natural drifts in suitable conditions.
