Ramsons or wild garlic occurs widely in the British Isles in damp woods and hedgerows. Its brilliant white flowers in April–May are very beautiful. Our Ramsons are UK-grown and of UK provenance, making them particularly suitable for native planting.
Some cooks use the cigar-shaped bulbs, although we stick to Allium sativum, the usual culinary species; the leaves are used in salads.
Ramsons grow and spread readily in most soils and are particularly at home in moist, partially shaded conditions.
