Crocus vernus

This crocus is native to the mountains of Europe from the Pyrenees to the Alps. A very variable species Crocus vernus has been known in Britain since the Middle Ages, thriving in churchyards and monastic gardens, and is the parent of hundreds of cultivars. This is the rich blue form.
