The main daffodil species of Britain, the one that impressed Wordsworth and known as the Lent Lily. A short plant of 20-30cm (8-12) with pale petals and deep yellow corona, it is found in damp woods and grassland, where it naturalises readily. Flowering in March as this Welsh name implies.

The other native daffodil and now considered a sub-species of N.pseudonarcissus, this is excellent for naturalising. Found locally and uniquely near Tenby in Dyfed, it is an attractive little golden daffodil and emblem of Wales. Easy to grow and undemanding it reaches only 20-30cm (8-12) and flowers in March.

This gorgeous little daffodil species from South France and Spain (also called the ‘lesser wild daffodil) is 4”-6” high with golden petals and trumpet. An early flowerer, Feb to March, depending on the season we’re having, it grows well here when given a well drained site perhaps with short grass.

Also known as Narcissus x johnstonii, this Iberian daffodil has earned the title Queen of Spain and is a cross between Narcissus pallidus and Narcissus pseudonarcissus. With a similar form and stature as our wild daffodil, but with creamy primrose trumpet and petals, it flowers a touch later and naturalises happily here, making a stunning group display.

The old fashioned 'Pheasants Eye' or Poet’s Narcissus is found in meadows in central Europe. With its pure white petals and a shallow greenish yellow cup with a crimson rim, it flowers late in the season, Apr - May. Very fragrant.

The species jonquil, like its hybrids, is very fragrant, with a cluster of 5 or more small golden flowers per stem, and narrow dark foliage. Jonquils are late flowering Narcissi, blooming in April.

The Campernelle daffodil comes from a very old cross between a Jonquil and a wild daffodil, going back at least to the 17th century. Low growing at 12, with golden yellow flowers showing in late April it has the scent of its jonquil parent and bright green foliage half way between the two.

This is the double form of the Campernelle daffodil, sometimes known as N. Rugulosus Flore Pleno, which is an unfortunate burden for a beautiful plant. Slightly taller than the single Campernelle, at 12, it has neat, symmetrical double golden flowers plus a rich scent.
