Another species from the mountains of Central Asia and easy to grow, and even spread, in the open garden here. Central Asian again like so many Alliums, this species goes on a different low growing tack. A gorgeous rosette of broad, purplish green, arching foliage emerging in March is reason enough to grow this Allium. But nestling in the centre an egg-shaped flower bud slowly grows to break open at last in May into a silver globe.
