This was an originally an Irish cultivar from some point in the 19th Century, and is really a double form of N. pumilus It has tousled greenish yellow petals, almost reminiscent of a dandelion and always arouses comment. This small daffodil, ht.8", flowers Feb.-March, and is a great subject for naturalising amongst other early bulbs.

This cyclamineus hybrid was bred by Mrs RO Backhouse herself pre 1921. With flying backswept primrose petals and a darker cup, this little daffodil braves the early March winds. It is neat and cheerful, without a hint of pointed hats and broomsticks.

This is one of the oldest cultivars pre 1830, and it is still given the specific title Narcissus gayi which perhaps indicates that it was originally a form selected from the wild. Early flowering with a clear yellow trumpet and cream petals the cut flowers were once harvested by the million.
