This 1960’s cross between two Spanish trumpet species is a touch smaller than our wild daffodil at about 12cm. Both trumpet and petals are a pale delicate yellow which then fade to white. The tips of the trumpet are frilled, and the outer petals have streaks of lemon yellow so that she looks like a gipsy queen roaming through the woods.

Twin Sisters Daffodil or Narcissus x biflorus. This naturally occurring hybrid from Western France is a cross between Narcissus poeticus and Narcissus tazetta. This is the very first of the group known as the “poetaz” daffodils and it has acquired several names having been widely used in gardens for centuries. It has the attributes of both species, the multiflower head of the tazetta (usually twin flowers here), and the open cream petals and small cup of the poeticus with the glorious scent of both.
