Crocus cartwrightianus

SKU: 2.082

This autumn flowering crocus is probably one of the ancestors of the clone C. sativus cultivated for Saffron, but is easier to grow and freer flowering in most UK conditions. It flowers in October with bright lilac petals with purple lines, and the bright orange stigmas can be harvested for the floral spice in the same way as Saffron
